Mysore Palace during Dussehra

Today, we travel to Mysore, located in the south Indian state of Karnataka.  Mysore is located in the foothills of the Chamundi Hills about 145.2 km (90 mi) towards the southwest of Bangalore. Mysore is noted for its heritage structures, beautiful gardens, parks and palaces, including the Mysore Palace, and for the festivities that take place during the Dasara festival when the city receives a large number of tourists from around the world.(Please check the photographs).

Mysore is also very famous for Chamundeshwari temple, dedicated to the Goddess Chamundeshwari, situated atop the Chamundi Hills, after whom it is named. ‘Mahishapura later became Mahisūru, and finally came to be anglicised as Mysore by the British and Maisūru/Mysuru in the vernacular Kannada language.

Another famous tourist attraction is the Shivanasamudra falls, on the way from Bangalore to Mysore.

The Shivanasamudra Falls is on the Kaveri River after the river has found its way through the rocks and ravines of the Deccan Plateauand drops off to form waterfalls.[2] The island town of Shivanasamudra divides the river into twin waterfalls. This creates the fourth largest island in the rivers course. A group of ancient temples are located here.
