Prayer for Surrender

O Lord Shri Krishna!

I stand before you having been overtaken and bitten by the serpent of time,

I have frittered away all my time,

In useless materialistic pursuits that are for nought,

Not realising the python of time in the form of death lurking any moment,

Having transmigrated through millions of species since time immemorial,

Now achieved this rare human form by Your grace,

That alone has the faculties of self-realization,

But…Alas…I have not gone beyond the four basic instincts,

Of eating, sleeping, mating and defending,

Living like the lower species of life,

Without understanding the real purpose of life,

Now, you have made me surrender to your beautiful lotus feet,

From whose toe nails the mighty Ganges emanated,

To lift me up from this abominable condition,

To your abode,

To live with you forever,

Now activate my soul to look to the Supersoul (Paramatma) residing in the heart,

For the rest of my life,

To guide me,

To realise my follies,

To attain self-realization,

To cross the mighty ocean of material existence,

Just like one crosses the water over a cow’s hoofprint,

For this, I surrender to thee… Lord Shri Krishna!
